Swivel bending

WEMO's swivel bending principle is based on clamping of the product between one fixed and one movable clamping beam. A bending beam bends the product around a clamping beam. The beams are mounted in one or more swivel bending units. Together, the beams with the support units make the swivel bending machine. Thanks to the rigidity of the construction it is not necessary to curve the bending beam.

The bending radius is the external product radius. This radius depends on the clamping bar radius and always equals at least twice the thickness of the material. The product precision determines whether it will be centred on the notches or on the edge of the blank.

The advantage of swivel bending lies in the fact that during the bending procedure the blank remains horizontal and does not have to swivel. Therefore large size blanks can be handled more easily. As a result this technology is ideal for automation.

An additional advantage is that damaging of the blank surface is being avoided thanks to the minimal movement between product and tools, thus making this technology very suitable for pre-painted material.
